"A SURPRISE HIT" |
|
"Originally recorded as a Christmas gift to our hometowns sister community in Estonia. The success of "Join Hands" took us by surprise. It rocketed into top position on Estonian radio charts passing artists like Madonna and Bon Jovi on its way. The song is about freedom really and become something of a soundtrack for the fight for freedom from the Soviet Union. I don't think we can really grasp how much it meant. The day after we got back from our last tour in Estonia 1991, there was an attempted coup in Moscow. The day after that, the Estonian Prime Minister went on the air declaring Estonias freedom. "Join Hands was the first song to be played after that…." |
